共产党领导的大国工匠——记四川省双流艺体中学国际理解主题日第四期活动

时代发展需要大国工匠，共产党领导下的中华民族伟大复兴更需要大国工匠精神。

为庆祝中国共产党建党100周年，国际理解主题日第四期活动以“共产党领导下的大国工匠精神”为题，于6月21日下午在学校学术厅二楼隆重举办。参加这次活动有高2022届4班和10班的全体同学，高二年级英语教师——符玥，杨文佳以及外事处副主任陈嘉立、陈庆老师。

本次活动全程贯彻“教师主导，学生主体”的方式，让同学们利用课下时间，上网搜索、整理、归纳关于袁隆平和屠呦呦两位科学家的相关事迹和体现的工匠精神后，再利用视频、PPT、演讲的方式展示给同学和老师。

首先，来自高2022届10班罗心语、董晏菱两位同学就袁隆平院士的生平事迹、杂交水稻、以及袁隆平院士身体力行的工匠精神展开讲述、分析和讨论。

高2022届10班罗心语同学为大家介绍袁隆平院士的生平事迹以及杂交水稻的实验过程。

高2022届10班董晏菱同学带领同学们进一步分析、探讨袁隆平院士身上所体现的大国工匠精神。

因此，在了解了袁隆平院士的巨匠精神后，来自高2022届4班朱昊天，任航两位同学带领同学们深入探究屠呦呦院士背后的伟大工匠精神。

The Spirit of Craftsmanship under the Leading of CPC

Yuan Longping- Father of Hybrid Rice

Hello, everyone! Today, we are going to talk about the spirit of craftsmanship under the leading of CPC. Now let’s beginning with the learning of Yuan Longping- father of hybrid rice. 

The great father of Hybrid Rice in China-Mr. Yuan Longping, was born in Beijing. From the beginning of 1964, Mr. Yuan Longping began studying hybrid rice technology. Through hard work, he and his team finally found a natural male sterile plants in the paddy fields. In 1975, he successfully developed the cultivation techniques of hybrid rice seed production, which laid a foundation for the large-scale promotion of hybrid rice. Every day, especially in the rice blossom seasons, he and the team were always so hard, feet in the mud, back bent, working day and night without a break, thus holding long-term backache.However, they still remain true to their original aspiration.

Question 1: What do you think of Yuan Longping? 

Answer 1: Yuan Longping is the father of hybrid rice. We can find that he has stable personality, strong faith, perseverance, love of special research, and love to the motherland. Meanwhile, he is enthusiastic to help others. 

We all know that Yuan Longping spent much time and energy in hybrid rice planting. Let’s watch a video to know more about the hybrid rice. 

Question 2: Do you know how to grow the plant? 

Answer 2: First,the farmers plow the field. They have to make the soil loose enough to plant crops. Second,they need to grow some young plants. To do it, they insert the young plants into the loose field. Rice grows very fast, normally up to a year, or up to three to four months. It can germinate, bloom and bear fruit. It only takes two or three days for a bud to grow its first leaf, so it is possible to plant three stages of rice a year in temperate regions. 

Finally, let’s make a short summary about Yuan Longping.Although he is not a member of CPC, he always carries forward the value and spirit of CPC. In a word, we should learn from Yuan Longping. As students, we should have the spirit of perseverance, passion, patience, and innovation, and apply it to our daily study. Through our efforts, CPC and our country will be better.

Sweet wormwood is a common plant in China. But it has the power to cure the deadly disease called malaria . Tu Youyou, 84, is the woman who uses the plant’s special power to save millions of lives. The Chinese scientist won a Nobel Prize because of her great contribution (贡献). 

On Oct 5, Tu was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. She shared the prize with two other scientists from the US and Japan. Tu is the first native  Chinese person to receive a Nobel Prize in natural sciences. 

Tu was modest about receiving the award: “It’s a success for the whole research team.” She also thinks it is scientists’ duty to fight for the health of all humans. 

When Tu joined the national research team to find the medicine that could fight against malaria in the 1960s and 1970s, things were hard. The team didn’t have advanced equipment back then. Tu used to test medicines by eating them herself. Tu’s team searched old Chinese medicine books by hand and tested over 2,000 traditional recipes. 

To do research, Tu also had to move around a lot.Once she returned home after traveling for six months. Her little daughter didn’t recognize her and hid from the “strange woman”. 

Finally, Tu found artemisinin in sweet wormwood in 1971. She spent the next decades trying to improve the medicine. According to World Health Organization, about 200 million people suffer from malaria around the world, and about half a million die each year. Artemisinin is still the most effective treatment against malaria known today. 

Tu never complains about how hard she works. “I feel more rewarded (获得回报的) when I see so many cured patients,” she said. 

在聆听完同学们的交流展示后，老师们也深受感动和启发。因此，外事处陈嘉立老师代表在场教师总结了自己对大国工匠精神深刻内涵的理解，对教师教育教学工作的启示，并表达了对同学们的殷切希望和对为本次活动开展付出努力的每位同学的感谢。如果说让中国人吃饱饭让人们想到了农业领域的科学巨匠袁隆平院士，那么让世界人民远离疟疾的困扰就一定会让大家想到来自医药领域的屠呦呦院士。

在同学们若有所思的的神情中，本次活动落下帷幕。相信每一位参与本次活动的老师和同学一定对大国工匠精神有了自己的理解与感悟。相信本次活动的成功开展，能让每位参与活动的老师与同学能在自身的工作和学习中践行“执着专注、作风严谨、精益求精、敬业守信、推陈出新”的大国工匠精神。用实际行动为党的100岁生日献礼。
